All civilized people were horrified by the targeting of Israeli men, women, and children by Hamas terrorists, just as they have concerns for the innocent people in Gaza, who are suffering as a result of the war Hamas started. But even if one didn't give a whit about people in Gaza: do we have a clear picture of how Israel's incipient campaign ties in to its objective of making another 10/7 much less likely?

Each option is considered, and the author suggests that uncertainty about both Iran's programs and its potential actions could lead to a full-blown war. Ultimately, deterrence would be the preferable option as it would prevent the possibility of a war with Iran, and while saving American money and lives, it would also not fuel the support of mullahs in Iran.
